Green Dentistry

At Sachar Dental NYC, we practice green dentistry! Green dentistry is a generalized term described the high-tech approach to performing dentistry using the least toxic materials, supporting the overall wellness approach to dentistry, reducing environmental impact, reducing waste, and applying the most conservative dental treatment options possible to achieve our goals.
Minimally invasive dentistry

At Sachar Dental NYC we adhere to the philosophy that our dentistry should be minimally invasive. We always opt for the least invasive dental procedures and most conservative treatment options available. We strongly believe that preventative dentistry is better than cure. We always try to preserve as much of the natural healthy tooth as possible rather than opting for aggressive treatment.
Minimally invasive dentistry applies to both general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. Our treatment plans focus on, and start with, preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible rather than drilling and grinding. Additionally, we always use the least toxic materials available.
General Dentistry

With over 20 years of experience practicing in New York City, we have seen just about everything. General dentistry involves treating a wide variety of dental problems. From simple dental fillings for cavities, to full mouth reconstructions, we do it all.
We strongly believe that preventative dentistry is the best kind of dentistry. We encourage our patients to come in every six months for regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings and practice good oral care at home.
One of the most common things that we treat is dental cavities. A dental cavity is caused by tooth decay that leads to damage to a tooth. When this happens, we remove the part of the unhealthy tooth and replace it with a filling material. We always use nontoxic, tooth colored dental filling materials. For some patients, we remove their old silver and mercury fillings, and replace them with composite tooth colored dental fillings that are less toxic.
Other kinds of dental fillings that we perform are porcelain inlay and onlay fillings. This involves filling the cavity with porcelain material rather than composite resin material. The porcelain is permanently bonded to the natural tooth.
Another common procedure that we perform is root canal. Root canals are indicated when there is damage to the nerve within the root of the tooth. In this case, we first remove the dead or infected nerve in the root of the tooth. We then fill the root with filling materials. Many times, a crown is then required.
A crown is a dental cap that goes over a damaged tooth. It is made out of porcelain in our dental laboratory. It is permanently bonded to the natural tooth below it. It restores the natural size, shape and function of the tooth.
When there is extensive damage to a tooth, sometimes a tooth extraction becomes necessary. In this case, we are able to remove the tooth in our office. Once the tooth is removed and the area has healed, there are a few options to replace a missing tooth, including a bridge, dentures or dental implants.
When it comes to replacing lost teeth, we are experts in performing fixed dental bridges, dentures and dental implants. Our expert dentists will determine which of these options is best for each patient.
Another common dental problem that we treat his temporomandibular joint disorder or TMJ. There are many causes for TMJ disorder, and there are also many symptoms associated with it. Mainly, there is pain in the jaw with range of motion. It ranges from mild to debilitating. The most common cause of TMJ pain is clenching and grinding of the teeth. This places a tremendous amount of force on the jaw and the surrounding muscles. We are experts in diagnosing the cause of TMJ disorder as well as treating it.
More advanced dental problems require more advanced dental treatments. We are experts in performing full mouth reconstructions. Every full mouth reconstruction is different for each individual patient. A full mouth reconstruction involves multiple general dentistry procedures as well as often times, cosmetic procedures. Our goal in performing full mouth reconstructions is to restore the normal appearance and function of the teeth and mouth. Our team of general dentists, cosmetic dentists, and prosthodontist, are able to determine and perform unique dental treatment plans for each individual patient.
Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry has been a large part of our NYC practice for the past 20 years. Cosmetic dentistry is a specialized area of dentistry that focuses on improving the appearance of one’s smile and teeth. Through many advanced dental procedures and new technology, we are able to transform and improve your smile and teeth. Many of our patients tell us that they have increased self-confidence and self-esteem after these cosmetic dental procedures.
The easiest and least invasive cosmetic dentistry procedure is teeth whitening. In office teeth whitening can be performed in under an hour to drastically whiten the teeth and make them appear whiter and brighter. Using custom molded trays and medical grade bleach teeth whitening gel, we are able to restore your teeth to their natural white color. Often times, teeth can be stained and discolored from exposure to tobacco, coffee, tea and red wine.
Another common cosmetic dentistry procedure is applying porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are made out of very thin sheets of porcelain. Porcelain is a very hard and durable material. It also is translucent which allows light to penetrate inside, just like normal tooth enamel. This enables us to create teeth that appear perfect in shape, size, and color. The thin sheets of porcelain are permanently bonded to your teeth to make them look like you have a beautiful Hollywood smile.
An alternative to porcelain veneers are composite bonding veneers, or resin veneers. Like porcelain veneers, resin veneers are translucent which allows light to penetrate and appear like your normal tooth enamel. Bonding resin veneers are made out of the same material that we use for tooth colored fillings. However, in this circumstance, they cover the entire tooth, and are not just used to fill a deficit or cavity. They can be used to improve the appearance of cracked teeth, short teeth, out of alignment teeth, stained teeth, and fill gaps between the teeth.
Porcelain crowns are also used for cosmetic reasons, as well as to repair damaged teeth. The porcelain crown goes over a tooth in order to make it appear normal shape, size and color. It also restores the function to a damaged tooth and makes it look like a normal tooth. The porcelain crown is fabricated in our dental laboratory after taking a mold of your natural tooth. It allows us to create a tooth that is both functional and aesthetic.
At Sachar Dental NYC we always use tooth colored fillings that are the least toxic materials. This allows us to create a dental filling that appears to be the normal size, shape and color. It restores function to a damaged tooth while it also improves the appearance.
In addition to these individual cosmetic dentistry procedures, we often perform complete smile makeovers for patients. Smile makeovers involve multiple cosmetic procedures combined together in order to create a perfect-looking smile. Many of our patients have told us that after their smile makeover they felt much more confident, and have greater self-esteem. Our expert NYC cosmetic dentists along with our prosthodontist are able to come up with the perfect treatment plan for each individual patient. Each treatment plan is unique. We are able to improve one smile to create a more youthful appearance, proper alignment of the teeth, replace missing teeth, make the teeth whiter and brighter, make the teeth uniform in length, make the lips appear more full and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles around the lips, close gaps between the teeth, make the teeth look more natural and the proper size and shape, improve the function for chewing, eating, and speaking, protect the teeth from further wear and tear, cover worn teeth, mask stained teeth, make teeth stain resistant from smoking, red wine, and overall improve the appearance of one’s smile.
Invisalign™

“Invisalign Is the Clear Alternative to Braces”.
Using discrete and clear aligner trays, Invisalign allows us to move teeth into their proper alignment without the need for metal braces. We have been using Invisalign for over 20 years to improve the appearance of one’s smile by straightening the teeth. Before Invisalign, the only alternative was to use unsightly metal braces in order to move the teeth. Invisalign aligner trays are virtually unnoticeable and are able to correct for many orthodontic problems.
Invisalign is indicated for adults and teenagers that have crooked teeth, gapped teeth, and crowded teeth. They are a safe and discrete method to realign teeth. Having straighter teeth can often help to prevent gum disease, periodontal disease and other health issues. It can also help prevent TMJ and jaw pain while at the same time, making one’s smile appear much more aesthetic.
Invisalign works by using a series of custom fabricated aligners that are worn in sequence. Each aligner will move the teeth to its new position slowly and painlessly. Once a mold is taken, we use our 3-dimensional imaging software to plan your new smile. We are able to see what each tray will do to move the teeth closer into proper alignment.
Clear, invisible aligner trays made out of BPA-free materials that are completely safe. They have been FDA approved since 1998. As of the time of this writing, over 9,000,000 people have used Invisalign to get straighter teeth, and a better-looking smile.
At Sachar Dental NYC our Invisalign certified dentists have undergone extensive training in Invisalign treatment, and they are experts in creating perfect smiles using Invisalign. Additionally, we have over 2 decades of experience using Invisalign.
Dental Implants

Dental implants can be a permanent solution for missing teeth. A dental implant consists of three pieces that are anchored into the bone. The implant itself is made of titanium and screws into the bone to permanently anchor your new tooth. Attached that are an abutment and a crown that creates a tooth that looks and functions like normal.
Dental implants can be used for people who have had extractions due to tooth decay and gum disease. They are also good for people that have undergone trauma such as a tooth fracture.
Benefits of dental implants include preventing surrounding teeth from moving it to a place where a tooth is missing, improve the function of the jaw and chewing, aesthetics for missing teeth, allow even load on the remaining teeth to prevent future problems, and they can provide a permanent and convenient solution to missing teeth versus other removable, less convenient solutions.
Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, or multiple missing teeth. They can also be used to support a bridge to replace multiple teeth. And finally, multiple dental implants can be utilized to replace all of the teeth such as an all-on-4 permanently fixed denture.
At Sachar Dental NYC, our dental implant specialist has been placing dental implants for over 20 years. In this time, we have virtually seen it all. We are able to do single dental implants all the way up to multiple dental implants that require bone grafting, and more advanced procedures.
We take great pride in our very high success rate with these complicated procedures. Our dental implant specialist has been performing these procedures for over 20 years, and has accumulated extensive experience and dexterity.
Our dental implant specialist is uniquely dual certified as a prosthodontist, and dental implant specialist. In other offices, one dentist would place the dental implant into the bone, and another would create the abutment and crown that go on top of the implant. In our office, our unique specialist performs the entire procedure from start to finish. This includes removing a tooth if necessary, placing a bone graft if necessary, placing the dental implant, attaching the abutment and finally creating the crown that is the visible part. This ensures that the implant and crown not only fit together perfectly but also appear aesthetic and cosmetic.
Teeth cleaning and dental checkups

At Sachar Dental NYC we strongly believe that preventative dentistry is the best dentistry of all. The best way to prevent tooth problems is by having professional dental teeth cleanings that are done properly every six months as well as maintaining proper oral hygiene at home.
We take great pride in going above and beyond the normal service of performing teeth cleanings. Our dentists and dental hygienists schedule our patients for one full hour appointments for their routine dental cleanings and checkups. This way, your dental hygiene appointments never feel rushed and we are able to spend enough time to get your teeth perfectly clean as well as perform a thorough examination.
We are very proud of the many reviews that talk about how pleasant their dental cleaning appointments were at Sachar Dental NYC. All of our dental hygienists have had extensive training on how to perform proper teeth cleanings as well as how to make them as painless as possible. Our dental hygienists are also trained and skilled at identifying dental hygiene problems. Her hygienists spend a good deal of time educating our patients on proper oral hygiene, as well as answering any questions you may have.
In addition to spending extra time with our patients, we use the latest state-of-the-art equipment for performing dental cleanings. Our top of the line ultrasonic cleaning devices gently flush away plaque and tartar from around the teeth, and under the gums.
After receiving a thorough dental cleaning by our skilled dental hygienists, our dentists will perform your dental checkup. By having a dental checkup twice per year, we are able to catch dental problems early, before they become large, and require more invasive procedures.
During the dental examination, our dentists will examine each individual tooth separately for cavities, cracks, fractures, tooth decay and wear. They will also examine the gums for inflammation and/or infection. We examine each and every gum pocket and compare them to previous measurements. We examined old fillings, crowns and any other previous dental work that has been performed.
At Sachar Dental NYC, we only use state-of-the-art digital x-rays. Digital x-rays produce less radiation exposure as well as have superior image quality when compared to traditional x-rays.
We strongly encourage our patients to come in 2-4 times per year for dental cleaning and twice per year for a dental checkup. This way, we can identify and prevent dental problems from requiring more invasive procedures and treatments.

Dental Emergencies

At Sachar Dental NYC, we offer same-day appointments for dental emergencies. We have decades of experience of taking care of dental emergencies. We can handle any dental problem, no matter how larger how small it is.
Common reasons why people come in for dental emergency appointments are: toothache, tooth pain, sensitive teeth, broken teeth, dental infections, injuries, dental abscess, bleeding gums, broken crowns, broken fillings, swollen gums, loose crowns, loose veneers, jaw pain, TMJ and many other reasons.
Our expert dentists will do an evaluation and identify the cause of your problem. We use state-of-the-art digital x-rays to help in making diagnoses. In order to solving your problems, the most common type of dental emergency procedures we perform are: root canals, treatment of infections of the teeth and gums, fixing broken teeth, tooth extractions, repairing broken appliances such as dentures, crowns, fillings and bridges. We also often treat the extreme pain associated with TMJ.
While cosmetic dental emergencies may seem like oxymoron, they are very common problems. Often, we get calls with patients that are embarrassed to go in public or in to work when a veneer has popped off the front tooth, or they have lost a crown on a front tooth. We are able to treat any of these problems to repair the cosmetic emergency that you desire. Additionally, as well as fixing the short-term problem we also think long-term to fix the problem and make sure it does not happen again in the future.
Children’s Dentistry

At Sachar Dental NYC, our dental hygienist and dentists are perfect for your whole family. We invite you to bring you children ages 2 and up, including teenagers, to our practice. Just as in adults, it is very important to catch any dental problems as early as possible. This prevents the need for more invasive procedures and dental treatments.
Also, as with adults, proper dental hygiene including professional teeth cleanings is very important to prevent tooth decay and cavities by the removal of plaque and tartar. Prevention of dental problems with proper dental hygiene is just as important in children as it is in adults. We encouraged parents to bring their children in at least twice per year for professional dental cleanings and checkups.
Our dental hygienists and dentists are highly trained and skilled at treating children. In addition to being clinically proficient, there also very child friendly. We understand the fear that children may have going to the dentist. Therefore, we make every appointment fun and friendly for your child.
As most parents can attest to, it may be difficult to get children to brush often and effectively. It is common for children to have plaque left behind after brushing. This reason, it is very important for children to have professional dental cleanings every 6 months.
Additionally, it is very important for children to have a professional dental checkup twice per year. Not only will this prevent problems from progressing but will also instill an excellent dental care regimen that will be continued into adulthood.
