Does a dental exam include a cleaning?
A dental exam does not include a cleaning. Although they are often performed on the same visit, they are two separate services.
How often should I have a dental exam?
The ADA recommends that dental exams should be performed twice per year. They also reccomend having a cleaning twice per year.
What is a full dental exam?
A full dental exam inlcudes: Inspecting each tooth for cavities, cracks, fractures, tooth decay, and wear. Examining the gums for inflammation, infection or other gum disease. Examing the jaw bone and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Oral cancer screening.
What is included in the dental check-up?
Included in a dental check-up are: Evaluation and clinical examination of each individual tooth and the gums by the dentist, full set of x-rays, answering any questions or concerns that you may have and providing home care instructions.
