Are custom mouthguards expensive?
Most PPO dental insurances cover the cost of a custom night guard at 80%. At Sachar Dental NYC, our charge for a custom night guard is $800. This includes taking a mold of the teeth, and all of the fitting and adjusting necessary.
Can a custom mouthguard shift your teeth?
A properly made custom nightguard will not shift your teeth. This is why we recommend a custom nightguard instead of an over-the-counter nightguard that may not fit properly.
Do dentists make mouthguards for teeth grinding?
The two most common reasons why we make custom mouthguards for patients are teeth clenching & grinding and TMJ pain.
Which is better, hard or soft nightguard?
Nightguards must be made out of a hard material. This allows teeth to slide freely when the jaw is clenched. Soft nightguards can make symptoms worse by increasing clenching and grinding by creating a natural response to having a chewy material in your mouth.
