There are many reasons why you may be unhappy with your smile, and now in just one visit, our cosmetic dentists can give you that perfect looking smile. Just like porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding veneers go over the front of your teeth to mask stains and improve the alignment of your teeth. The main difference between porcelain veneers and cosmetic bonding veneers is the materials that are made out of and how they are performed. Cosmetic bonding veneers are made out of a resin or composite material that is applied to the teeth and hardened in just one visit. Porcelain veneers are made out of porcelain that are fabricated in our dental laboratory. Porcelain veneers require multiple visits to take molds, fabricate, and apply.
What is the difference between “cosmetic bonding veneers” and “cosmetic dental bonding”?
The terms “cosmetic bonding veneer”, and “cosmetic dental bonding” can be used interchangeably. A veneer describes any substance used to cover the entire front of the tooth for cosmetic reasons. The word “bonding” is used when discussing the application of a tooth colored filling made of resin or composite material. In the case of “cosmetic bonding veneer”, the bonding material is applied over the entire front surface of the tooth to create a veneer. Cosmetic bonding veneers are also sometimes called “chair-side veneers”.
When we repair a chipped or cracked tooth with a tooth-colored filling / resin material, it is called a cosmetic dental bonding. However, when the entire front surface of the tooth is covered, it is then called a cosmetic bonding veneer. While these both sounds very similar, and both achieve cosmetic results, the difference lies in how much of the tooth is covered.
What are cosmetic bonding veneers?
Cosmetic bonding veneers are applied to the teeth as a cosmetic dental procedure in order to improve one’s smile. This cosmetic dental procedure can be done in just one visit to our office. It involves us covering the entire front surface of the teeth with a tooth-colored filling material called a resin. This resin then hardens to give a new appearance of the teeth and smile.
Our expert cosmetic dentists will skillfully sculpt the tooth colored filling material in order to create the perfect shape, size and color of the veneer. We are able to dramatically improve the appearance of your smile in just one visit. Cosmetic bonding veneers are excellent, more conservative and less expensive alternatives to porcelain veneers. Additionally, cosmetic bonding veneers require less filing of the natural teeth then porcelain veneers require.
What are reasons to get cosmetic bonding veneers?
Cosmetic bonding veneers can solve many cosmetic concerns and problems. These include:
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Short teeth
- Out of alignment teeth
- Stained teeth
- Gaps between the teeth
Who is a good candidate for cosmetic bonding veneers?
Anyone who is dissatisfied with their current teeth or smile due to any of the above reasons, is a good candidate for cosmetic bonding veneers. At Sachar Dental NYC, our expert cosmetic dentists will evaluate your current condition and make proper recommendations on the best cosmetic procedures for you. We have had patients that informed us that they wanted to remain more conservative and prevent the need for filing of their teeth, but still wanted veneers. For these patients cosmetic bonding veneers are an excellent and more conservative option. Also, for patients that want a smile makeover, but are limited by their budget, cosmetic bonding veneers are an excellent alternative to porcelain veneers.
What are the differences between cosmetic bonding veneers and porcelain veneers?
There are advantages and disadvantages when comparing cosmetic bonding veneers and porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are more translucent than cosmetic bonding veneers. This translucency mimics the natural translucency of the enamel of our teeth resulting in a more natural and shiny appearance. Porcelain veneers are more durable than cosmetic bonding veneers, meaning that they will last longer, and resist staining for much longer as well.
Cosmetic bonding veneers cost less than porcelain veneers. They also require only one visit. Cosmetic bonding veneers are also more conservative, requiring less filing of the teeth.
Both of these types of veneers can produce a beautiful cosmetic smile and can result in a drastic improvement. During your cosmetic consultation, our expert cosmetic dentists will discuss with you which option is best for you.
What are cosmetic bonding veneers made of?
Cosmetic bonding veneers are made out of a resin material that is also used for tooth-colored fillings. It goes on as a flexible putty-like material that is skillfully sculpted by our cosmetic dentist to create a perfect shape, size and color of your new veneers. It comes in many different shades that can be customized to the exact color that you desire for your new smile. At Sachar Dental NYC, we often mix different shades of composite materials to create the exact perfect color you desire. Additionally, our composite bonding materials offer different levels of translucency, which allows a different amount of light to penetrate through them. Our expert cosmetic dentists are able to combine and blend the more opaque materials at the top of the tooth near the gum, and more translucent materials towards the tip of the tooth, in order to create a more natural looking appearance. As always at Sachar Dental NYC, we use the least toxic materials, and when it comes to composite bonding material to make veneers, we always use BPA-free materials.
How long does it take to get cosmetic bonding veneers?
Cosmetic bonding veneers can be made in just one visit. This includes the application, shaping, hardening of the materials, final shaping after hardened, and polishing.
How are cosmetic dental bondings done?
On your initial cosmetic dentistry consultation, we will discuss the reasons why you are not happy with your current smile. We will discuss with you your goals and what you would like to improve. If we have not already taken x-rays from prior visits, we will take x-rays to ensure that there is no underlying pathology present.
All of the cosmetic dentists at Sachar Dental NYC have undergone extensive training in cosmetic dentistry at Spear Education for Advanced Dentistry in Scottsdale, Arizona. With over two decades of experience and our extensive cosmetic dentistry training, we have an incredibly high success rate for our cosmetic bonding veneer patients. We are experts in deciding who is a candidate for cosmetic bonding veneers, and more importantly, who may need adjustments to their bite, prior to applying veneers. This ensures that your cosmetic bonding veneers will not fail prematurely in the future. When performing cosmetic bonding veneers, our expert dentists will adjust the size and shape of the veneer in order to accommodate for an abnormal bite. With that said, cosmetic bonding veneers may need to be replaced in 5-7 years due to staining or wear. Sometimes, cosmetic bonding veneers may last even longer. We have had many patients that have been extremely satisfied with their cosmetic bonding veneers for many years.
We will take into consideration your desires for the outcome you wish for. We will plan your cosmetic bonding veneers based on your desires, as well as our extensive experience and education in order to choose the proper size, shape, length, translucency and color of your cosmetic bonding veneers. This allows us to produce the best possible outcome and appearance. We will then show you shade guides and help you pick the perfect color for your new cosmetic bonding veneers.
After we have planned all these things, the next step is actually preparing the teeth for application of your cosmetic bonding veneers. The tooth surface is cleaned to remove all bacteria, plaque and tartar. When necessary, we will file the teeth slightly where needed. The composite material that makes up the veneer is applied to the tooth and sculpted to the proper shape and size. Once we are satisfied, the cosmetic bonding veneer is light cured to permanently harden.
The next step in completing your cosmetic bonding veneers after they have hardened, is to make any final adjustments to the size and shape of the veneers and polishing them to produce a beautiful shine.
How long should cosmetic bonding veneers last?
Cosmetic bonding veneers should last 5-7 years before they need to be replaced or repaired due to staining or wear. At Sachar Dental NYC, we have had many patients that come back with their cosmetic bonding veneers that we have done, after 5-10 years, and they still look great. When done correctly, cosmetic bonding veneers should give you great satisfaction for many years. Our cosmetic dentists know which patients are good candidates for cosmetic bonding veneers and will take into consideration factors that may lead to premature failure. If necessary, we will recommend adjusting our patients bite prior to performing cosmetic bonding veneers. For patients that grind and clench, we will recommend a night guard to protect their cosmetic bonding veneers.
How do I care for my cosmetic bonding veneers?
Cosmetic bonding veneers, unfortunately, are not resistant to staining from red wine, coffee, tea and tobacco. We always recommend avoiding these as much as possible, as well as performing good oral hygiene at home, with brushing and flossing daily. We also recommend coming in every six months for your professional dental cleanings and checkups. Preserving your cosmetic bonding veneers take some common sense as well. Anything that can damage your teeth can also damage your cosmetic bonding veneers. We recommend that you avoid biting into hard foods such as candy and ice. Obviously, we do not recommend biting your nails or opening plastic bags or bottles with your teeth.
What is the cost of cosmetic bonding veneers in NYC?
At Sachar dental NYC, our cost for cosmetic bonding veneers is $500-$750 per tooth, depending on the complexity.
Does dental insurance cover, cosmetic bonding veneers?
Some PPO dental insurance plans may cover the cost of cosmetic bonding veneers at 50%-80%. As always, at Sachar Dental NYC, we will call your insurance plan prior to your visit to determine if cosmetic bonding veneers are a covered service or not. We will also determine what your out-of-pocket costs will be prior to any procedure. At the time your visit, you will only be responsible for your out-of-pocket costs. We will submit a claim to your dental insurance company and receive the insurance portion directly from them.
Do you offer payment plans for cosmetic bonding veneers?
At Sachar Dental NYC, we offer interest free financing through Lending Club and Care Credit. In 15 minutes, we will let you know if you are approved for interest-free financing. These options will enable you to make payments over the next 12-18 months without any interest charged.
Can I use flexible spending dollars or a medical savings account for these charges?
Yes, you may be able to use your medical savings accounts or flexible
spending dollars to cover charges related to your treatment. At the
time of your service, we will provide you with all the necessary
documentation and receipts.
Why are we the best cosmetic dentists in NYC for cosmetic bonding veneers?
All of the cosmetic dentists at Sachar Dental NYC undergone extensive training at Spear Education for Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry in Scottsdale, Arizona. They also have over two decades of experience in performing cosmetic dental procedures. However, many dentists may undergo extensive training and have experience, but it takes an innate ability to be an artist. Our dentists take great pride in their ability to sculpt and create the perfect cosmetic bonding veneer. With their artistic visions and manual dexterity to make their visions into reality, our dentists truly excel in making cosmetic bonding veneers.
As always at Sachar Dental NYC, we always perform the most conservative procedures possible in the least invasive manner, in order to achieve our goals. When it comes to cosmetic bonding veneers, we always file as little of the natural tooth as possible. Although it costs us more, we maintain many shades of colors, and levels of transparency of our composite bonding materials. We also combine and blend different shades in order to achieve the perfect color.
Due to our extensive cosmetic dental training, we have learned how to excel when it comes to producing natural looking cosmetic bonding veneers. Somewhat unique to our practice, it is very difficult to make the level of transparency look natural in a cosmetic bonding veneer. We take great pride in our artistic ability when combining composite bonding materials that offer different levels of translucency, which allows a different amount of light to penetrate through them. Our expert cosmetic dentists are able to combine and blend the more opaque materials at the top of the tooth near the gum, and more translucent materials towards the tip of the tooth, in order to create a more natural looking appearance.
We also use the least toxic materials possible. Our bonding materials are all BPA-free. And finally, as always at Sachar Dental NYC, our compassionate dentists and dental assistants always exhibit the finest empathy, compassion and bedside manner anywhere.
